Aimarán
Stud Farm is located in the municipal district of Almogia (Malaga) on
the estate called "La Capellamía". It has all the facilities
needed so that the horses can develop and train in good conditions,
with barns for mares with foaling stalls, barns for colts and fillies
as well as box stalls for stallions.
The stud started its activity in 1983, although previously time was
spent studying the genetic lines of Pure Bred Spanish horses that would
be suitable for selection. Finally the decision was made to introduce
two lines, one with a high percentage of "bocado" and some
"Yeguada Militar" and the other only concentrated on "bocado".
For the first line, mares were selected from the Martinez Boloix and
Yeguada Militar brands, and for the second mares from the Marques de
Salvatierra and de Urquijo. The farm was later extended with mares from
Las Lumbreras Stud and the stallion "Imperial VIII" was purchased
from Marques de Salvatierra.
When
the females are three years old, they are all subjected to a breaking
in and haltering process with the aim of discovering both their character
and abilities of movement.
We currently have 24 broodmares. The stallions that normally cover
are "Imperial VIII" from the Marques de Salvatierra brand
and "Animador II" from Las Lumbreras brand. Special mention
should also be given to the two stallions born on the stud farm: "Endrino
II" and "Ingenioso XX". Both have accumulated a large
number of gold medals in Conformation Competitions and are Champions
of the Breed and Champions of Functionality. This group of four stallions
is passing on great beauty and extraordinary movements, which their
offspring have demonstrated in several important Conformation Competitions
by obtaining first place, prizes for the best movements and becoming
absolute Champions of movement of the show, in spite of the fact that
the stud farm does not often take part in these events.
We have exported specimens to almost all of Western Europe (Germany,
Italy, France, Denmark, Switzerland, Belgium, Austria and Holland)
and the United States.
The objective of this farm is to conserve the breed prototype of the
Andalusian horse, from which, to give a summary of my opinion, we
should expect, above all, beauty, good character and lofty and extensive
movements
