Carmona stud farm, from Colmenar Viejo (Madrid), appeared in the Purebred Spanish Horse breeding scene with an interesting group of mares. All of them came from Granda and, though not too large, they all display excellent necks; their profiles respond to the standard of the race. They also have extraordinary backs and loins. Their groundings are correct and their movements excellent. These characteristics could be due to their farm topography: extensive land with many hills, extreme temperatures and rich pastures where these animals are raised in complete freedom (something only comparable with the Cordobese Subetic zone in Andalusia).

Today, one of the stud farm sires is "Valor": A large bay horse, born to the extraordinary "Rosca", having the laureate "Cañera" as granddam and the Spanish Champion "Zancarronera" as great granddam. All of them coming directly from the lineage of "Albero II". His sire was "Milano", with origins in the new Military Stud Farm and Peralta. "Valor" possesses an excellent head, unusual among Purebred Spanish bay horses, and the same could be said of his neck. His back and loin are also of the highest quality.

This stud, "Valor", is very young and already a stud with a lot of history behind him… Let me tell you, shortly, what this horse means for many of us: "Valor" is, as I said, a bay horse, four years old, branded by Jiménez Montegui. This breeder started his career at Los Brunales farm, at Fuente la Higuera (Valencia). Going back to the early seventies, three decades ago. After many years of great breeding, in 1998 he decided to sell the last selected group of animals based on two original mares who came from Marín García: "Cañera" and "Zahonera". As Mr. Jiménez Montegui used to say "…the former is my favorite and the latter my wife’s…" During the 80’s and 90’s these two mares gave uncountable moments of glory to their breeder. The former on her own and the latter as part of the famous "cobra" of the farm. After selling all his horses, Jiménez Montegui only kept two mares and two colts. As anyone could have guessed, these two mares where the best fillies "Cañera" and "Zahonera" had. Their names were "Rosca" (today Runner-up Andalusia Champion, owned by Cubas stud farm), and "Quimera" (dam of "Viento", Absolute Champion of Andalusia owned by Aquilino Moya). Finally, Mr. Jiménez Montegui sold these two mares and kept their two colts. He once said that, even though he was quitting as a breeder, he wanted to have two really good horses of his own for ridding. He wanted to keep the sons and grandsons of his favorites after such an excellent breeding experience. These two last colts, today also out of his farm, were "Viento" and "Valor".

Let me finish by adding that we are talking about quality Purebred Spanish Horses, strong, homogeneous and perfectly defined. To top it all they are only 15 minutes from the city of Madrid.
